Stimson Honored

Falconer Native Inducted Into 'Cradle Of Coaches'

OXFORD, Ohio - Falconer native Dan Stimson added yet another award to his overflowing trophy case after he was honored at Miami University last weekend.

Stimson, who will be inducted into the Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame on Feb. 16, spent nine years as the field events coach for the Redhawks before taking his talents to the University of Tennessee and, eventually, the College of William & Mary where he spent 28 years working with track and field athletes.

Last weekend, Stimson was inducted into the Cradle of Coaches, which recognizes former Redhawk coaches who have gone on to achieve great feats. In addition to Stimson, this year's class included Steve Cady (ice hockey/men's soccer), Dona Layman (softball), Ron Masanek (wrestling) and Tracy Smith (baseball).

During his leadership the William & Mary Tribe racked up 56 Colonial Athletic Association championships.

The additional financial assistance of the community is critical to the success of the Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame.
We gratefully acknowledge these individuals and organizations for their generous support.
